Why I Continue to Post Stories on Medium

Despite No One Reading Them

(Where’s that violin section when you need it?)

I’ve been writing articles for Medium for over a year now. Many of my articles are IMO of great import, on such subjects as: an attempt to quantify “ALL” the problems humanity faces (ongoing effort); a full study of Right Wing Militias in the United States and talk of “Civil War Part II” among Right Wingers; a comparison between Jesus’ teaching and the “Gospel of Donald Trump”; on the takeover of the Republican Party by the Racist South in 1964; of the need for some sort of “Grand Bargain” between Left and Right, to avoid Civil War; on the relationship between Fundamenalist Christianity and denial of Global Warming; on how the Racist South were the main obstacle to women gaining the right to vote; on the need for repentance and forgiveness on a national scale; on the need for Police Reform (NOT defunding); on the need for non-violence; as well as articles on Dreaming, on the path to enlightenment, and on “original Buddhism”.

Despite this wide array of articles, most of which (again IMO) describe things which NEED to be understood in order to bring about, well, simply SURVIVAL of humanity, I have received only ONE clap (for the article on Buddhism), I have had very few readers, even fewer subscribers, and only one article (a ridiculously simple article which somehow had no picture associated with it) was ever recommended (curated?) by the staff at Medium.

I have thus become extremely jaded, convinced that no one gives a damn what I have to say, or perhaps that the staff members at Medium think my writings are irrelevant, or more likely, too much to the point, and dangerous. OK, I have accepted that. However, I have some hope — the reason why I keep on publishing articles — that, if anyone survives the next decade or so, and once I die, possibly someone somewhere might actually read my articles.

There you go. Thanks, Medium, I guess, for letting me present my thoughts to posterity.

Articles focused on world peace and stability.
